Overview
Dublin’s Smart Sandyford is a smart city research programme. The programme is funded by Science Foundation Ireland Research Spoke ‘Enable’ hosted by the CONNECT Centre in Trinity College Dublin in collaboration with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. Through this programme academics, local government, and business community have funded projects to enhance Dún Laoghaire Rathdown and the wider Dublin region as a Smart City.
Standard duties and Responsibilities of the Post
● Responsibility for the coordination, planning and implementation of project workshops, events and meetings including online and offline workshop with the local business and education community;
● Coordinating DLR, Industry and Enable stakeholders to advance the Smart Sandyford initiatives and coordinating with the Smart Dublin Initiative team in DLR to ensure alignment of the research initiatives with relevant local, regional and national strategies;
● Monitoring, collection and timely reporting of all project outputs, milestones and deliverables to the Management team and associated co-funding agencies;
● Responsibility for the operational project management of Enable and DLR collaborations with a focus on ‘Close to Market’ (high TRL level) services and products;
● Understanding the technology developments and IoT (Internet of Things) use cases underway in Enable; Communicating these advances and the use cases to DLR and collaborating with new and existing companies;
● Continuous monitoring for opportunities for collaborations between Enable researchers and DLR and/or new and existing companies within the ecosystem, including making introductions and facilitating the process towards targeted project specification;
● Mapping the various initiatives of relevance in the city, including those (but not limited to) exploiting multiple sensing technologies;
● Working with relevant groups in DLR to advance any of the above;
● Attending meetings of relevance to Smart Sandyford and Smart Dublin where appropriate; and meeting with stakeholders through-out the city and nationally;
● Attending and demonstrating progress at showcase events and where necessary preparing materials for showcasing;
● Responsibility, when requested, for administration support in preparing and evaluating grant applications for new Smart City opportunities;
● Other roles as assigned by the Smart Sandyford Programme Manager, and Enable Director with regard to supporting the Enable and DLR collaboration.
Qualifications and experience
• A Master’s Degree or equivalent in project management, business (commerce), public policy or other closely related fields.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and to efficiently deliver results on time
• Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment Knowledge & Experience (Desirable).
● Experience in project management

● Experience in statistical analysis
● Evidence of productivity through research outputs
● A record of peer-reviewed scientific publication
