Research Fellow (Fiber Optic Sensing)
School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
The Research Fellow is expected to work on a project in collaboration with Schaeffler (Singapore) Pte Ltd to conduct research on “Condition Monitoring and Fault Prognosis of Robot Joints based on Fiber Optic Sensing and Deep Learning”. As a Research Fellow, you will be supporting the Project Lead to deliver the project, ensuring that the overall project output meets the requirements. These range from fundamental technical research, to design of experiments, to control project spending. You will be dealing with customers and stakeholders and will be accountable for the successful delivery to cost, specification and time.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with internal team members, interfacing teams, partners and suppliers to ensure technical requirements
Develop Design of experiments (DoE) plan
Plan and execute experiments
Capture and analyse data
Resolve technical problems
Perform technical research and technical report writing
Job Requirements:
PhD in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Optical Engineering or related field from a reputable University
Expertise in fiber optic sensor design and applications
Expertise in data analytics
Experience in condition monitoring or structural health monitoring
Good publication track record
Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++ and Python
Proficiency in English
